What I like best of La Chocita is the peace and quiet and its excellent location that makes it easy to get around the city. I also want to point out that it is very safe, and that my room is very comfortable. It is my fourth time at La Chocita and highly recommend it. Something else is that the hot water and the other services it offers are outstanding. The staff are very amiable, they make my stay pleasant and I feel at home. My thanks to La Chocita and its staff

My stay at La Chocita was very pleasant, it’s location, the comfort of it’s large rooms, the helpfulness of the staff made my trip a memorable experience. I felt safe and received personalized service. La Chocita is steps away from restaurants, malls and beautiful places to visit.

A trip to Peru is not complete if you don’t visit it’s beautiful beaches… here is a picture of the Playa de Ancon, a beautiful bay… and then after a day at the beach enjoy a delicious ceviche accompanied by a pisco sour.

Cozy place, great location
It’s hard to find as they’re not great with advertising themselves, but they go out of their way to make your stay better. It’s a cozy place with half a dozen ensuite rooms on a pleasant terrace. Had trouble with the water pressure in my shower so they bought three new hot water tanks while I was there to fix it. Can’t imagine they made much money off me! (it cost me about 25 bucks a night). Anyway, Magdalena is truly lovely. Walked to San Isidro most days, stopping in coffee shops and ice cream parlours. Not a huge fan of the Magdalena beach but the area is one of my favourites.

Friendly, welcoming atmosphere in a great location
I want to recommend this small hotel/hostel as a great base for exploring Lima. Chocita is in the old district of Magdalena, very close to the Costa Verde and Miraflores and right next to San Isidro. I found the hotel staff to be very welcoming, always trying to help, even when language was a bit of a barrier! The rooms were clean and newly refurbished and all ensuite; communal areas had a warm family feel too. There was also excellent wireless access. It was the right mix of affordability and nice accommodation for us. I would definitely go stay there again. I was also pleasantly surprised with the neighbourhood which is very quiet, with tree lined lanes and friendly residents. I had a great time and the accommodation definitely contributed a great deal to my experience!

Cosy, personalized service in an easy location

We loved staying at La Chocita. Friendly and helpful staff who gave us every tip and answered all our questions (Gracias Mauro!). The location is a quiet residential area very close to many transit options. La Chocita is a home away from home, I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to visit Lima and have a good night’s sleep after those long days exploring! Very clean and comfortable.

A white surprise

I want to thank Candy for her readiness to help, from the very first phone contact, a perfect host, with her rooms and bathrooms, spacious, comfortable, and above all clean. This place is highly recommendable, and the area is perfect, you are a skip and a jump from the sea, the market, the money exchange houses, San Isidro district, and the best restaurants.

Hidden gem

We found out about Alicia’s guest house, La Chocita Ward, through a friend of a friend at our home in Canada. When we emailed her they were in the middle of renovations but she told us to come anyways. It is a charming old family owned house. There were always interesting family to talk to, and light breakfasts were provided. It was easy enough to get around taking taxis and buses. The neighbourhood felt safe enough to come home in the dark but we never stayed out too late because we don’t know the area. Alicia have very helpful tips for how to get around and what to see. Highly recommend this lovely home!

A very good option

La Chocita Ward is a very good option to spend the night, its rooms are comfortable and very clean, and service is quick. In addition the hotel is located in a good area near business centres and places to visit. Its rates are inexpensive and recommendable.

The rooms are super comfortable and the service is excellent. Common areas are well ventilated and the hotel is near the Centro Comercial Plaza San Miguel and near Miraflores. There is parking around La Chocita and the rates are very good.

An inexpensive gem

My husband and I lucked out when we discovered this charming family-run hotel. The rooms were comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel staff arranged for a taxi to pick us up and to deliver us back to the airport at the end of our stay, a convenience we really appreciated. The hotel is on a quiet side street not far from a major artery where taxis were readily available to take us anywhere in Lima we wished to go. At $27.00 per room, each with a double bed, table & chair, dresser and 3 piece washroom, this place was a bargain! Breakfast was available for an extra $4 per person and consisted of a variety of delicious fruits, avocados, cheese, bread rolls, coffee, tea and juice. Eggs and other items like cereal and milk were also provided if requested. As guests, we were welcome to use the computers and to watch TV or simply relax in the common areas; the dining room, living room and terrace. We definitely recommend La Chocita Ward to anyone wishing to visit Lima since it provided us with everything we needed for an enjoyable stay.

My best find in Lima Peru

This place is a guest house and the rooms are on the 3rd floor of the private house located in a residential street in the Magdalena del Mar district. The location was great, 1 block away from the corner of Avenida Brazil and Javier Prado. The location is on the border of a very nice upscale neighbood and there is night time surveillance/security at the corner of the street. Both major streets have plenty of public transportation and within walking distance is the district center of La Magdalena, a vibrant small town shopping area. The house is a secure large house with touches of art deco, probably from the 30’s. Candi, the hostess was super friendly and helpful, I really appreciated the attention and concern she gave. Breakfast is extra, but only costs $4US, and the room was $27US a night. The room was smallish, but adequate for one person, clean and comfortable. In the living room there is a computer and wifi modem, but the signal was weak in the room. What impressed me was the location and what was available nearby, I spent most of the 3 days I was there out in the streets. While you can hear traffic during the day an evening, it does quiet down at night. There is no TV in the room, but I was too tired to watch TV anyway. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here as I avoid touristy places when I travel. I spoke to the owner on the phone, she lives in Vancouver, and told her the place was great for me, but that there should be more advertising as probably few people know about this place.
